Description
Beautiful Black Swans (Cygnus atratus) at Bibra Lake, Western Australia. The Black Swan is a rather interesting cultural idiom, as before they were discovered in 1697, a black swan was used as a phrase to describe something impossible, as swans were only known to be white. Once black swans were discovered, it became an idiom for something illogical, or something which was perceived to be false or impossible incorrectly. I think that is rather interesting. The Black Swan is iconic for Australians too. It is Western Australia's State Emblem.
